Alice’s Kids Helps Students Affected by California Camp Fire
In the wake of the devastation that burned more than 153,000 acres of California in November 2018, Alice’s Kids has reached out to provide some happiness to Paradise Intermediate School eighth graders. The charity donated $2,880 to help pay for yearbooks for 180 students.
During the 2018 fire that coursed through Paradise, CA, Paradise Intermediate School suffered severe burn damage. In total, more than 18,000 buildings were destroyed, some of which were the homes for the students of Paradise.
The school’s principal, Larry Johnson, spoke on the importance of having the yearbooks after the fire. “It will give them a reminder of the field trips they went on, the friendships they made, and the teachers they bonded with.”
Charity executive director, Ron Fitzsimmons, commented on Alice’s Kids involvement, stating, “[W]e thought it would be a worthy expenditure of funds that would make these kids feel a little bit better about themselves.”
Normally, Alice’s Kids responds to individual requests from teachers and social workers. The donation to Paradise Intermediate School was the first time the charity approached a school to ask how it could help.
